Want to learn how to capture emotion in your scene? Check out what shots will be best to use and when in my post below!
Extreme Close-Up (ECU Shot) Zoomed right in up close to person and includes just the person's eyes and a bit of nose. |
Big Close-Up (BCU Shot) A near full face shot but cuts off a bit before the chin and top of the hair. |
Close-Up (CU Shot) A full face shot including past the chin and the top of the head. |
Medium Close-UP (MCU Shot) A shot of the persons head and shoulders. |
Medium Long Shot (MLS) A near full body shot but stopping near the knees. includes some of the background scenery. |
Long Shot (LS) A Full body shot and subject is in view and focus. Involves lots of background scenery and can't see much expression on the actors face |
Very Long Shot (VLS) Can still see person, but mainly a scenery shot to capture the mood of the film. |
Extreme Long Shot (ELS) can only just define the person. Rarely used, but can set atmosphere in shot. |
