AS Evaluation: Question 2

Question 2: How does your media product represent particular social groups?

On the left we have a shot from the film 'World War Z'. In this shot we can see that the main protagonist played by Brad Pitt is wearing a shirt and jeans and we can tell that there is panic in the area by everyone rushing around and the police officer at the right hand side of the image with his gun out.

The image on the left is a shot from the opening of our film 'Kosto' where we can see a male facing out of a boarded up window. The Main protagonist of our film is visibly seen wearing a dark plaid shirt, jeans and in other shots you can see a bandage on his arm and he is wearing a pair of walking shoes.

In our film we are attempting to represent a typical 'zombie apocalypse survivalist'. Our Film openings main protagonist is male this is because in many zombie films the main character is seen to be male, this may be because of the stereotype of a man being stronger or something else but it seems to have become a main aspect of zombie films. The prefered audience for a zombie film would most likely be  a male between the ages of 15 to 25. However this is all a generalisation on the average moviegoer. The Costume of our main protagonist follows the same conventions of many zombie films and games along with other medians (as shown below with a shot of 'Joel' the main protagonist of the game 'The Last of Us'.)
Joel: following the conventions of a typical Zombie Apocalypse
Survivalist.
In the shot of our film opening the character can be seen staring out of a window whilst doing moving some stuff around and getting ready, which can be seen in many other zombie apocalypse films. I think that the elements in our film are representing an ordinary young person, that would fit in with a young social group however their rough, dirty clothes may be seen as a bit extreme.
